I was so lucky to be invited last week to preview the first episode of this gripping new ITV 6 part drama Liar starring Joanna Froggatt and Ioan Gruffudd.
As a massive Downton Abbey fan and a huge fan of Joanna Froggatt, I was intrigued to find out more about her new project and after reading the synopsis to the show, I was very excited to see it.
It’s a thriller that will keep you guessing and definitely spark of debates amongst friends and family, and I assume social media will be rife with opinions.
Take a look at the trailer…
Joanna plays Laura Nielson, an English teacher at a secondary school, she’s just broken up with her ex-boyfriend, Tom (Warren Brown), her sister, Katy (Zoe Tapper) encourages her to get back out there and assists in setting up a date between Laura and her Cardiac Surgeon colleague (and also father of one of Laura’s pupil’s) Andrew (Ioan Gruffudd).
The date seems to go really well, but after some wine, we are not really sure what has happened, but the following morning, Laura wakes up and is convinced that she has been raped.
Laura’s memory is hazy, she’s remembering the night in short flashbacks.
Andrew’s memory of the night seems clear, as far as he is aware, they both had a good time and he’d love to see Laura again.
Both version of events are very confusing…Watch for yourself to see who you believe.
